Outreach Ministries Minimize

First Christian = Outreach

Reporting of Outreach Survey:

Up Coming Outreach and In-reach Projects:

We thank our three leaders Jan Atkinson, Julie Erickson, and Nancy Huber for running such a great Pumpkin Patch. Thanks , too, go to all those who helped sell the pumpkins. We made more profit than ever before and it all goes to mission projects this year.

Our mission survey showed that there are many members who will support new and existing outreach program.

Disciple women lead many projects for us. Disciple women have been collecting footwear in the designated container in the narthex. This container was full with over 90 pairs!   November 13, 2011 is the deadline.

The “CROP,” Walk for the Hungry is Sunday Nov 13. Envelopes will be available for collecting donations from Julie Erickson. Come to the event at Eldorado Park on Sunday at 1:30 for a bean and rice meal before the walk.

Shoebox Ministry: Shoe boxes to fill with children’s toys, candy, toiletries and school supplies for Christmas will soon be in the narthex. You may use your own shoeboxes as well. Many signed up for at least one shoe box. You may supply your own boxes and mark with Boy or Girl and approximate age.

Mobile Meals (*new program) is another project for which many signed-up. There are those in our congregation who may need food since they are shut-in or recently returned home from the hospital or rehab. Melissa Wise leads this important program. If you didn’t fill out the survey to volunteer or you need to be a recipient, please call Melissa to volunteer at home at 480-502-9426 or e-mail mjanemccormick@aol.com.

There will be a collection for Adopted Families for Thanksgiving and Christmas from Vista del Camino in November and December.  We have a family with four boys.

As a Global Mission Church other opportunities will be throughout the year to help the local church, community and offered. Examples may be to work for United Methodist Outreach Ministries with their homeless who come to spend the night and St Vincent DePaul to serve meals.
At this time there were not enough volunteers to participate in Habitat or the Mexico Mission home Build. We have not given up for the future. Several Sundays ago Bob Burns, Administrative Council Chair, announced that the church donated $500 to the Habitat Project in the name of the minsters in our church, in October, during Clergy Recognition Month. The church may wish to do the same for Amore, even though we are not building this year.

Scooping Food (*new) Volunteers will be gathering to go scoop dry food into bags to be sent abroad led by the Prasts.

Depending upon the need and those who sign-up, we will probably be taking our members to much needed Doctors’ appointments (*new). Both of these activities are led by the Prasts. To volunteer for either the scooping or driving call Prasts at: 602-953-3418.

In December 2011 we will host the “Hand to Hand” market after church in which members can buy Christmas gifts from the World Market which get craft items from crafters who make hand-made items which the profit go directly back to the artisans. Also, the Heifer Project is a program in which one can purchase animals in another’s name , to be sent to underdeveloped countries in liue of a Christmas present. That day there will also be an opportunity to sponsor a child from another country throughDisciple/UCC Global Ministries.
